When I was in school, I wrote an essay about fairy tales, & Prince Charming, & how it may not actually exist in real life. Yet, today, I watched a beautiful young lady marry her prince, literally, and it made me want to believe. Kate Middleton and Prince William exchanged vows at their wedding ceremony today. It was regal and touching.

Kate or waity Katie or Duchess Catherine, as she will now be known, met William while they were in college. After 8 years of courtship she finally married him. You could feel the love in the air... ok through the television screen, as he looked at her, told her she was beautiful, held hands, and as he guided her and took the lead. She could hardly breathe when she entered Westminister Abbey and once it was over she was relieved. But you would have missed that unless you looked closely. HRH Catherine was poised. They could hardly contain their happiness as they exchanged their vows.
While Diana was missed and will always play an important part in her boys' lives, they have grown up to be fine young men who have learnt from the past. Thirty years ago Diana and charles got married at the Abbey. Comparisons were inevitable. While Diana got lost in her poufy dress, Catherine looked elegant in hers, reminiscent of Grace Kelly. Diana was naive and young at nineteen when she got married; Catherine is a lot more mature and worldly wise. She and William have also been "cohabitating" for the last few months. They are equals and partners. However, both women brought fairy tales to life. They definitely inspired us girls to be princesses.
I am jealous of Kate Middleton. Prince William! Come on! He is dashing and seems to be a good man with his feet firmly grounded. We've all grown up watching the princes, William and Harry, grow with us, survive their mother's horrific death, go to school, college, join the military. So today was personal. This is history taking place in our generation. I wish them all the best. They do, indeed, make a lovely couple who are kind to each other and care and love one another deeply. It really makes you believe!
