My uncle passed away this afternoon. He just didn't have the will to live. Actually he gave up a few years ago. He stopped working and began to dedicate his life to God. He was a simple man, kind and loved to have someone to talk to and share his stories. He always had a smile. He loved ice cream. He practised portion control when it came to his meals but for ice cream-oh boy! He would have several helpings of any flavour. (Even as I write this I have a smile on my face.)

His 60th birthday was in Madras. It was the first time he was away from his immediate family. So I baked him a cake and we took him to Kumarakoam for good old nadan food. He absolutely relished it and was in tears.

I felt sad today. He was ill and was all by himself when he died. He looked tiny. And I regretted that I didn't knock on his door last week and ask him how he was. I was going to do that on Monday. He had half his clothes still in his suitcase, like he was going somewhere. And he did!

We said a prayer for him this afternoon. As we were putting away his things, we came across a passage he had written in his bible.
'Unshakable faith
Imperishable hope
Unfailing love
Lord jesus I believe
All things are possible
Lord Jesus I believe
My God is still on the throne and in control.'
This was Uncle Chicks. And now its time to say goodbye to him. I hope he is at peace where he is with his best friend, the one person he always trusted,God.
